In class the other day, we were listening to a clip of a women complaining about her neighbours (and everything else in her life) to her hairdresser. After, my teacher David said something along the lines of: old women complain a lot (which is a generalization but not entirely false). Well, what I thought he was saying very condescendingly that women in general always complain, and that was not gonna fly. So immediately I said, “Excuse-moi! Qu’est-ce que tu as dit?! Toutes les femmes se plaignent?” And just like that, he asked me if I was a journalist. I said, “Yes! How did you know?” Apparently it was from the way I’d twisted his words…In addition to that, when I tell people I’m going to study journalism in college, many of them nod and tell me they’re not surprised because I act like a journalist. Should I take this as a compliment?
